eTV-a great tool for video and TV in your curriculum

Hi everyone,

The best kept secret on campus at the moment is the new eTV web service.   eTV is a site that collects and stores video and TV broadcasts made in New Zealand specifically for teachers and educators to watch and use.  You can download the videos offline, watch them on your iPad, add them to a presentation or share them with your students.  Fine old documentaries, all the news on the Christchurch Earthquake from 2011 until now and even Iceroad Truckers are all available for free with your staff or student login.  I used it to watch the excellent documentary Brother Number One on my iPad at the gym over eduroam and it was flawless.  From their site:

Educational establishments throughout New Zealand can access this unique service to select relevant content from television programmes and videos covering all curriculum subject areas.

eTV distributes programmes recorded off-air from domestic and international television channels and internet channels, that can be viewed and downloaded under the terms and conditions of the Screenrights Licensing Scheme. Schools also have access to Live-streaming Channels, and a Library of educational videos.

If anyone wants more information on eTV and how to use it I’d be happy to record a podcast detailing its use.  For now, login to the site and have a search around!

Paul.
